Independent Research Providers (IRPs) have always prided themselves on providing impartial advice to investment management firms. However, four years on from MiFID II, we still find quite distinct approaches to outcomes across IRP and Investment Banking (Sell Side) providers of research services. A survey conducted by consulting firm AcquiredKnowledge showed clear differences in research delivery, client management and servicing and commercial strategy across the two segments.
